Shipping & Rebilling for Subscription Boxes

Hey everyone, this is Jesse with Subscription School, and welcome to our next 60-second sesh. Today we’ll be talking about shipping and rebilling.

Shipping and rebilling are inherently related: after you ship your product, you’re able to renew your customers. And if you time this correctly, you renew customers at the perfect moment, right when they’ve had that warm & fuzzy experience with your product.

First, begin by choosing a shipping date. Generally, it’s advised you start with “once a month” shipping – one shipping date for all subscribers. This reduces the complexity for your startup, and ensures everybody can also then be rebilled at the same time.

Once you’ve got your shipping date selected, then figure out how long shipping itself might take. We don’t suggest rebilling customers until 1-2 days after that. For example, if you ship on the 15th, and shipping takes 6-7 days, don’t rebill customers until 9-10 days after the shipment has begun. This ensures that everyone has received a box and can be rebilled at the same time.

When it comes to rebilling, communication and regularity are the name of the game. Rebill customers around the same time each month, and make sure they know when those days are. Also, be sure your customer service team is prepared for the potential uptick in requests.

  1. Question. If I am currently in the Influencer reach out phase and would like to send out a few boxes as a promo can I manually enter them into the shipping platform without the reviewer having to order?

      Hi Keesha,

You should be able to do that, no problem! On the customer tab, click action > add a customer. Then, go to the customer record that you added, click action and add shipment.

      Hope that helps!
